About Santa Casa

Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Porto Alegre was founded on October 19, 1803 as a private philanthropic institution.

Its mission is to provide universal health care, with excellence, sustainability and compassion – an objective motivated by the institution's values of ethics, mercy, fairness, organizational excellence, humanism, history and culture, credibility, sustainability, pioneering and innovation.

Today, Santa Casa de Porto Alegre has seven hospitals, noteworthy in the areas of Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Pulmonology, Oncology, Pediatrics and Transplants.

Apart from these specialties, Santa Casa also works with elective outpatient consultations, as well as urgent or emergency care, auxiliary services for diagnosis and treatment, surgical and obstetric procedures, clinical and surgical hospitalizations and much more.
